4 September 2006

Beautiful weather, 28 – 30 degrees.

After a lovely breakfast we left the hotel, we’re gonna be very brave and head up a mountain. The short stroll through the village and a visit to the information centre we reach the cable-car called Rofan Seilbahn, which will take us up the mountain. At the information centre we bought tickets that allows us excess to all the thing we might like to see and it didn’t cost very much.
After a cappuccino at the Gasthof at the top we begin our walk along a mountain route which stated to be a friendly family walk. Little did we know. The goal of this walk is the Dalfaz Alm hut, where we want to have lunch. We noticed everyone wearing hiking shoes and use walking canes, but it didn’t ring a bell with us. No, we set out on moccasins and Prada handbags, dressed to kill, and went down the first slope.

With this in mind we quickly realized that the three quarters of an hour for this walk would take us a lot longer. Bearing in mind, we stopped quite often to enjoy the views, take pictures and even film the magnificent scenery.
At the end it took us one and a half hour to complete the walk to the hut. When we first arrived on the mountain it was just 14 degrees, but the temperature quickly went up to 28 degrees, nice and warm with lots of sunshine. A cold beer went really well down the hatch and after a simple but decent meal (sauerkraut mit wurst, frankfurters mit senf und goulashsuppe) we went back to the cable-car.
The way up had took its toll, which made the way back a longer trip, partially because we had to go up the slope again, but also the altitude was something we didn’t take in to consideration. But eventually we ended at the Berg Gasthof Rofan again.
Before we went down again we enjoyed a cold drink. At 4 o’clock we sat on the terrace from the hotel and the waiter brought us some nice cold beers and a rosé. At the supermarket we had bought some postcards and we were writing stuff on them which caused some hilarious moments, mainly by what was written on them.

Later that evening we watched the results from all the pictures taken and the short films on the laptop, after which for Marijke the lights went out. With me the sauerkraut began working and when “her indoors” wanted to complain with Marijke, she was already vast asleep.
I’m thinking about bringing both ladies back to their mother, the bags are already packed then, so it will take little effort.
Don't put your mouth into motion, before your brain is in gear.
